What's wrong with most makeup brush cleaners?
Solid soap bars leave filmy residue
Many solid soap bars leave residue on your brushes. They also simply can't clean as well - the ingredients that make a good brush cleaner simply cannot be made into solid form.
No-rinse sprays ruin your brushes and skin
They are made with oily citrus-based ingredients or harsh chemicals to get the makeup off without rinsing - and you definitely do NOT want to be painting that residue back onto your skin. They also creep up the bristles (because of capillary action) and loosen the glue that holds brush together - we've seen many brush heads fall off because of this.
Dish soap is way too harsh
If it can clean the grease off my pans, surely it can clean the foundation off my brushes, right? Well, yeah, but ever heard the phrase "throw the baby out with the bathwater?" Dish soap is made for grease on a metal pan - not your delicate makeup brushes, which will get clean, but ruined if you clean them with dish soap.
Liquid cleaners don't work on foundation brushes
Most liquid brush cleaners are not very good at cleaning brushes - and they are particularly bad at cleaning brushes used for liquid or cream makeup, like foundation. We've all had the foundation brush that gets cakey after a few days when the foundation, mixed with the oils from your skin, dries and hardens.
We've figured out the perfect formula
We asked a rocket scientist
Our PhD materials scientist studied numerous chemistry textbooks to get to the bottom of what makes a shampoo effective at cleaning hair (and also leaving it soft and shiny with no residue) and applied that to makeup brushes. Good makeup brushes are often quite an investment, and carefully made with fine materials - why wouldn't you treat them like the hair on your head?
Who tested and tested and tested
We then tested endless combinations of ingredients on all the brushes we could find (we actually reached out to friends and asked them if we could clean their dirty brushes because we couldn't dirty them up fast enough ourselves).
And then we had an aha moment
One day, one formulation - we started washing a foundation brush and - voila! - the gunk just slid right off the the bristles. The next morning, the brush shined like our own hair - and we knew we had a winner.
How we're different (and better)
- Powerful for the dirtiest of foundation brushes
- Gentle enough for the most delicate of natural fibers
- No residue - rinses clean and easily
- Made with haircare and skincare ingredients
The perfect balance of gentle and effective
Most makeup brush cleansers are either effective, but harsh against bristles, or gentle but ineffective against the most stubborn liquid and cream makeup, as well as the oils from your face. Brush Bubbly is tough against the most stubborn makeup and oil, but gentle enough for the most delicate of natural bristles, leaving your brushes baby soft and as shiny as your hair!
Best used with the Brush Board
Brush Bubbly is most effective when it works with its partner in crime, the Brush Board. All you need is a splash of Bubbly on your Brush Board, then a gentle swirling motion of your wet bristles across one of its 6 surfaces for a deep clean. Then, simply rinse thoroughly to reveal squeaky clean yet soft brushes!
The ultimate maintenance system for your brushes
Makeup brushes can be quite an investment, but if you take care of them, they will last a long time. The Brush Bar is committed to creating innovative tools that will not only protect your investment, but also your skin. The less you dread washing your brushes, the more often you'll wash your brushes and stop painting yesterday's makeup, dead skin, and oil back onto your face today. Our products make washing your brushes a breeze - and your skin will thank you for it. #brushcareisskincare
